Routine foot and nail care can reduce injury and infection, keeping you and your feet stepping out with confidence.
With help from The Mobile Foot Care Nurse, you can maintain mobility, comfort, and independence.
Nail Trimming and Filing
Proper trimming and filing help prevent painful ingrown toenails, reduce the risk of nail-related injuries, and prevent snagging on socks or bedding. Essential for those who have difficulty reaching their feet or seeing clearly.
Nail Thinning (Debridement)
Thickened toenails, often caused by fungal infections or injury, can put pressure on shoes and cause pain. Gentle thinning makes nails more comfortable and easier to manage and improves their appearance.
Corn & Callus Thinning/Reduction
Corns and calluses are areas of hard, thickened skin caused by pressure or friction. Careful reduction relieves pain, reduces pressure points that could lead to skin breakdown (especially important for diabetics), and improves overall foot comfort.
Diabetic Foot and Nail Care
People with diabetes are at higher risk for foot complications due to potential nerve damage (neuropathy) and reduced circulation. Regular professional care is vital.
Specialized Attention Includes: Safe nail trimming (avoiding injury), thorough skin inspection for any redness, sores, or potential issues, callus/corn management, basic circulation and sensation checks, and crucial patient education on daily self-inspection and care to prevent ulcers and infections.
Podiatry & Wound Care Referrals
As a foot care nurse, I provide noninvasive care and assessment. If I identify a condition requiring diagnosis or treatment beyond my scope of practice—such as severe infections, nonhealing wounds/ulcers, issues needing surgical intervention, or conditions requiring prescription medication—I will provide appropriate referrals to trusted Podiatrists or Wound Care Specialists.
